The first NFL mini camp for newly drafted NFL players wrapped up over the weekend, and while it was a chance for some drafted Bears to get acclimated to their new teams, it was also a chance for some free agent hopefuls to still show off their stuff on a try-out basis.
Former, Cal QB Nate Longshore attended the Miami Dolphins’ mini camp, and the recurring message appears to be that Longshore has the size and arm strength, but appears spotty in his accuracy. In all fairness, mini camps are always the toughest on QBs.
“Former Cal quarterback Nate Longshore was 2-of-6 in 7-on-7 completing two short outs, including one on a diving catch by third-round pick Patrick Turner.”

"Tryout QB Nate Longshore has a very strong arm, but he doesn't seem very accurate. The Dolphins need a practice squad quarterback, but I suspect they might wait till the first round of camp cuts to poach a draftee from another team. If White is going to be learning the offense and running the Wildcat, exactly who is going to be running the scout team offense that prepares the defense? It can't be Chad Henne, can it?"
“Tryout quarterback Nate Longshore is big (a thick 6-4, 230 pounds) and threw a couple of nice balls. The problems was very few of them connected with a receiver. But you can see there's potential there. QB's usually have the toughest time during these sessions because of the amount of information they have to digest.”

There’s not much about Rulon Davis’ performance with the Denver Broncos, but there is another article about Davis. In the same way the Cal media continued to pump out stories on Davis and his military background, it’s sure to become another talking point for the Denver press.
"Nothing's came easy in my life as you can see," Davis said. "I've had to work for everything. Hard work is not something that's unfamiliar to me."
Finally, it seems former Cal MLB can’t catch a break. After being injured for his pro day workout and not getting drafted, Williams had planned to participate in the 49ers mini camp this week. Williams attended the camp, but was unable to workout due to injury. Eesh.
